High CBD hemp flower is one of our favorite ways to enjoy the benefits of CBD. It’s incredibly versatile and boasts a full-spectrum of cannabinoids plus the added deliciousness of terpenes. As the hemp industry has grown, more and more farmers are putting their focus into producing aromatic high CBD buds, perfect for a variety of consumption methods.

What is High CBD Hemp Flower?

Cannabinoids are the main compounds responsible for hemp’s therapeutic benefits. Cannabinoids, as well as terpenes, the compounds responsible for hemp strain’s unique smells, develop in the trichomes. Trichomes are resin glands are concentrated mostly on the hemp flowers. This is why the hemp flower is one of the most desirable part of the plant.

High CBD Hemp flower is just dried and cured hemp flower. The curing process allows the buds to fully express their terpene and cannabinoid profiles, making for a more pleasing experience.

So, What are the Benefits?

Hemp flower allows consumers to full experience hemp’s therapeutic effects. Unlike some hemp extracts, nothing has been removed from hemp flowers. It really is the most natural way to consume CBD and on top of that, it’s the fastest. When CBD is taken orally or sublingually, it must pass though the digestive system before being processed by the liver. When CBD is smoked, on the other hand, its acts almost instantaneously since it enters the bloodstream directly through the lungs.

Hemp buds are also one of best ways to fully experience the entourage effect, a theory stating that cannabinoids as well as terpenes behave synergistically, offering enhanced effects when combined.

Products with high levels of CBD, like high CBD hemp flower, have been reported to:

  • Soothe tension
  • Ease feelings of discomfort
  • Help soothe feelings of overwhelm
  • Support healthy sleep
  • Support digestive health and comfort
  • Support healthy appetite
  • Help support emotional wellness

3 Ways to Use High CBD Hemp Flower

Before we start, there is one thing that all these methods have in common: decarboxylation.

THC and CBD are formed when their cannabinoid acid counterparts, THCa and CBDa respectively, are exposed to heat. All cannabinoids have an acidic form that changes to neutral form when it goes through decarboxylation. Essentially, this process activates the cannabinoids so that we can feel their therapeutic effects. That being said, raw cannabis does have its own set of unique benefits, thanks to the presence of cannabinoid acids.

Method 1: Smoking Hemp Flower

One of the most popular ways to consume hemp flower is smoking. Like any other form of cannabis, it can be rolled into a joint or placed in any of your favorite smoking devices like a bubbler or a pipe. The effects of smokable hemp typically last about 30-60 minutes, however smoking CBD enhances the compound’s effects.

One drawback to smoking hemp flower is that it’s well, smoking, which has potential long-term effects on the lungs and can lead to respiratory issues. Beyond that, some consumers simply don’t like the taste of smoke, which is totally fine. There are a number of ways to enjoy hemp flower.

Method 2: Vaporizing High CBD Hemp

Vaporizers or Vapes are a great option for someone who wants to experience quick effects without smoking. Because you’re inhaling vapor, the CBD is still directly absorbed into the blood stream through the lungs. Before we move forward, it’s important to note that hemp flower is meant to be used with dry-herb vaporizers and not the types that are meant for use with “e-liquids” or CBD extracts. Dry herb vapes work by heating hemp bud enough to evaporate the cannabinoids and terpenes without combusting the plant material. Because the vaporizer doesn’t burn the plant material, the vapor maintains some of the more delicate flavors.

Method 3: DIY CBD Hemp Edibles

CBD edibles are a great option for anyone who doesn’t want to inhale hemp products. Yes, there are some CBD edibles on the market like CBD gummies or CBD oil drops but DIY CBD edibles can be a fun activity to test your kitchen skills. The most essential step to making any sort of CBD edible is decarbing your hemp flower to activate the CBD. This can be done by following the steps below:

  1. Set oven to 225ºF
  1. Line baking sheet with parchment or foil
  1. Grind Cannabis to about the size of a grain of rice. If the flower is too fine, it runs the risk of burning
  1. Spread the plant material evenly across the baking sheet
  1. Place in oven for 45 min or until golden brown

Once your hemp is activated, it ready for use in your favorite recipe. Having said that, it’s important to note that CBD is fat soluble meaning it needs fats, like butter or oil, for absorption. If you want to mix CBD with a beverage like coffee or tea, we recommend incorporating milk or creamer to make sure the CBD is able to be absorbed.

CBD Chocolate Covered Strawberries
