What is industrial hemp and how is it different from marijuana?
The State of Colorado defines industrial hemp as any cannabis plant that contains “no more than three-tenths of one percent (0.3%) THC on a dry weight basis.” Marijuanna, on the other hand, has no restrictions on THC content. So with the definition of hemp in mind, marijuana would be any cannabis that contains more than .3% THC.Hemp is also used for more purposes beyond medicinal and recreational consumption. It can be used to create construction materials, biofuel, food, rope, and even clothing.
What is the ideal CBD:THC ratio for growing strains?
This depends on your target market and your local state regulations. Typically, the ideal ratio is around 20:1 or 30:1 CBD to THC.
What are hemp extracts? What forms do they come in?
Hemp extracts are substances that are densely packed with cannabinoids and are safer to consume than smoking since they’re often vaporized or eaten. Hemp extracts are able to produce a variety of benefits including the ability to isolate specific cannabinoids which allows for better consumer control. Hemp extracts are commonly found in oil, wax, edible, or shatter forms.
What are the benefits of hemp products?
The hemp plant contains cannabinoids which are compounds that interact with the body’s naturally occurring endo-cannbinoid system. Research has shown that these cannabinoids have a number of benefits and can help treat anxiety, neurological disorders, seizures, reduce inflammation and chronic pain, reduce digestive issues, and assist in quitting tobacco addictions. Hemp beauty products are also starting to make an impact in the skincare and cosmetics world due to the plant’s high concentration of omega fatty acids, which are known to improve skin-barrier function, in addition to the soothing power of CBD.
What is CBD and is it legal?
CBD stands for Cannabidiol and it is a naturally occurring compound found in the cannabis plant. Like THC, CBD interacts with your endo-cannabinoid system but it is non-psychoactive meaning it does not produce that “high” feeling. CBD is legal in all 50 states. The circumstances within which CBD can be considered legal or illegal depends on some factors, all dependent on the laws applicable in the state. CBD comes in many different forms and can be consumed in many different ways. Individuals use CBD for a number of different reasons, including to relieve pain and reduce inflammation.
